'Cast', a Mexican ensemble who already have 20 albums to their credit (see on their website) and it is with this last album ‘Power And Outcome' that I discover them because it is their first record presented on Spotify. They evolve in a rich and varied progressive rock that draws their influences in some artists of the 70s like 'Emerson Lake & Palmer' or 'Genesis'. 10 compositions for 70 minutes, here is the menu of this last opus which begins by 'Rules Of The Desert' which is certainly not the most accessible title but which pretty well sums up the style of the group with a rather complex orchestration that mixes the instruments electric to the strings and to the piano. The two tracks 'Power And Outcome' and 'Details, Circles Spin' are more accessible and classic with a symphonic side. The following is the image of this beginning, an alternation of sought-after titles and simpler ones that make this album very varied but requires a few listening to penetrate each nook. In short, 'Power And Outcome', is a 40 years condensed of progressive rock and, although it’s a little too complex to discover this style of music, should please all the fans of the genre…
