It’s already the number 13 for the Americans of 'Spock's Beard' who are already for long years a reference in the sphere of progressive rock and this last album 'Noise Floor' sees the drummer 'Nick D'Virgilio' come back home (definitely "That is the question"). To be honest (and this is only my opinion), I was not able to easily get into the last installment of 2015 'The Oblivion Particle' while 'Noise Floor', even if it still requires several listenings, seems easier to access with a melodic research more present while keeping the stamp "progressive unbridled" typical of the group. So we embarked for nearly an hour and 10 minutes rich and dense multi-drawer compositions where each member of the group brings his stone to the building to captivate the listener from beginning to end as in the magnificent 'Beginnings' with its progressive part sandwiched between the two sung parts whose melody will enter in your head definitively. Note that after the first 8 main titles are added 4 shorter titles and the first 3 are much more classic in the construction which can be a good way for those who do not know the group to get an idea on their style. In summary, with 'Noise Floor', the Americans of 'Spock's Beard' continue their path by offering us as usual a new album of quality that will certainly delight the historical fans but, by more melodic lines could touch a plus general public...
