I come back on the last album of 'Cheap Trick' that they released in October 2017 and which plunges us back into the Christmas period. 'Tarja' gave us a wonderful album (see Here) but this 'Christmas Christmas' from 'Cheap Trick', as you might expect, is not quite the same kind. They offer us 12 good-natured titles including 3 of their compositions (the refreshing 'Merry Christmas Darlings', the lullaby 'Our Father Of Life' and the energetic 'Christmas Christmas') but also covers of different artists that go from 'I Wish It could be Christmas Today' of the '70s from the 'Wizzard' band to 'Sweet Night, Holy Night' of the 19th century that we hear more often at midnight mass through 'I Wish It Could Be Christmas Today' a little more muscular than the original sung by 'Julian Casablancas'. Note that strangely, their single 'I Want You For Christmas' which was a cover of their hit ‘I Want You To Want Me’ with other lyrics is not on this album. In short, this 'Christmas, Christmas' is just pretending to give us a good time thanks to these artists who over the years, have always kept this desire to write and the pleasure of playing together as says so well 'Tom Petersson' : “It just seems very natural for us – I can’t really explain it. People will ask for advice and I just don’t have any. We love recording and writing together, and we always search for that perfect record you can never achieve, so I guess that might be one of those things that keeps us going. There’s always room for improvement and change.”...
