Do not confuse 'Galahad', the British progressive rock group (see here) with the German formation of the same name which evolves in a folk/rock style and which is influenced by formations of the 70s like 'Jethro Tull' (Spotify also makes the amalgam between the 2 formations). This chronicle concerns the Germans who released in December 2019 a new album ‘Jheronimus (Songs of Earthly Delights)’. For more than an hour of listening, this latest opus offers 15 compositions in an accessible and melodic style, starting with a catchy "Hard Working Man" in which electric instruments mix with acoustic instruments in a medieval atmosphere. The following tracks 'Airy Fairy' and 'Sweetheart' continue in this light and dancing atmosphere and we cannot help but refer to their compatriots from 'Faun' who also released an album at the end of 2019 (see here). There are also some compositions which are more distant from folk and which are closer to formations like 'Mostly Autumn' like for example 'Stay Here', 'Like A Light Rose' or 'The Lady of Corvic' with some progressive components but also other titles refer to 'Jethro Tull' such as 'Antie Ant' or 'Whisper Words' in which the flute recalls that of 'Ian Anderson'. In summary, the Germans of 'Galahad' continue to offer us compositions with beautiful melodic lines accessible at first listen and this latest album 'Jheronimus (Songs of Earthly Delights)' is to be advised to an audience loving a style mixing medieval folk and peaceful rock with some progressive components...
