The folk group ‘Faun’ released a new album by taking us this time into fairy tales from different countries, I quote ‘Oliver’s Tyr’ : « There was once upon a time a world in which fairy tales formed our reality. Therefore, we want to encourage you to build a memory of the fairy tales from our past, as they perpetuate the world filled with miracles ». We are therefore embarked for an hour on medieval folk in more or less known legends, starting with ‘once upon a time ...’ (‘Es war einmal…) like any tale worthy of the name. Parade the tales of the Grimm brothers like the happy 'Rosenrot' ('Snow White' and 'Red Rose'), the rhythmic 'Sieben Ravens' ('The 7 Ravens'), the calm 'Jorinde' ('Jorinde and Joringel' ) or 'Aschenbrödel' ('Cinderella') inspired by the film 'Drei Haselnüsse für Aschenbröd' ('Three hazelnuts for Cinderella') but also other compositions like 'Hagazussa' which pays homage to the healing witch, the melancholic 'Die Weisse Dame' or 'The Lily' from the tale 'The Green Snake and the Beautiful Lily' from the German 'Johann Wolfgang von Goethe' and which is the only song sung in English.

In summary, the Germans of 'Faun' continue for our greatest pleasure to offer us quality compositions, both on the vocal and instrumental level but also in the production which is impeccable and 'Märchen & Mythen' is to be advised at all those who love medieval folk but also, provided that singing in German is not an obstacle, to a much wider audience because all the titles are very accessible at the first listen...
