'Sedated Illusion' is a Greek native of Corfu group that I discovered with their 5th album 'Glass Delusion'. They do not have the buzz on the Internet and apart from their site on facebook, the Chronicles are not rushing. They are a quite elaborate progressive rock/metal style that can ask successive listenings to appreciate this latest installment in the right measure. First of all is not quite rock, nor entirely metal but always alternating between the two. Then the titles are all pretty long with complex constructions with frequent changes of tempo and atmosphere that can be confusing to some regulars than linearity in the music. For example 'Escaping From...' (the shorter title) starts quietly with a piano, then gradually to power monte for the chorus then again part hushed with the piano accompanied by an organ; follows a very asked sung part then a solo guitar in the 'Pink Floyd'; then begins the last part to join once the central theme and all in 6 minutes. When 'Glass Delusion', more than 10 minutes, it is a melting pot of moods and they mix bouzouki and electric instruments. The Sung part, a kind of plaintive appeal is beautiful and the instrumental mixes Western and Eastern influences well reflecting their Greek origin. In summary, a favorite for this multi-faceted group which, to my taste, should be much more known...
