Listening to 'Drifting Ashore', we could easily believe that ‘Allison Mareek' and 'Etienne Prieuret' are both Americans because they master this particular style between blues, folk and rock of artists of the country of uncle Sam (and this is not the cover of 'Masters of War' of 'Bob Dylan' which can say the opposite). In fact, the duo is from Paris and they started their adventure at the Caveau des oubliettes when Allison was looking for a guitarist in 2014 to accompany him. From the start, with 'Hard as They Try', we discover the beautiful warm and sensual voice of Allison for a semi-acoustic title typical of the blues and with the tracks following 'Buffalo' and 'Feathers', the tone is more folk and the duo shows a nice complicity in the fusion of their two voices. With 'Damages Goods - I Will not Settle For', they embark us on an energetic title much more rock and we return to a much quieter atmosphere with 'The Things We Should'nt Say' where the duo also knows how to sublimate in melancholy. We stay in this mood with 'Song for the Fisherman', 'Drifting Ashore' or the poignant 'Empty Minds & Prayers' and 'Colors' is lighter and reminiscent of the style of 'Joan Beaz'. In summary, 'Crossfire' is a very endearing duo that releases a quality album and 'Drifting Ashore' is recommended to all fans of American blues and folk...
