'Arca Progjet' is a new progressive Italian rock band that was born from the idea of drummer 'Alex Jorio' and his best friend and bassist 'Gregorio Verdun' and which materialized with the release of a first studio album. Their style is very accessible and melodic lines are well-influenced by the Italian song especially since the lyrics are in their native language which reinforces all the more this atmosphere transalpine. You can read on the web that they have pasted a hard-rock label (maybe because their label 'Jolly Rogers Records' produces artists in this style) but on first listen, excluding 'Pozzanghere di cielo', which in some places is more rock, the whole is rather a mixture of melodic pop and rock, sprinkled here and there with progressive style. If I had to find references, we are in atmospheres close to 'JethroTull' or for the Italian side, of course 'Premiata Forneria Marconi' (see here). In short, this first baby of 'Arca Progjet' is a great success and, if you like a pop/rock style easy to access and you also like the singing in Italian, this album is made for you... | |
