'Barriers' is the second album of the Germans of 'Crystal Breed' who evolve in a progressive style mixing rock, metal and jazz. The whole is very rich, and the compositions are relatively complex which requires several listenings to penetrate smallest nooks. 'The Brain Train' takes us in breaks of rhythms where we find some influences from groups of progressive metal as 'Porpucine Tree' with choirs which look like 'Queen'. The following title is much more classic and takes us into a progressive rock close to ‘Spock's Beard. Then comes 'Liar To Yourself' which is more symphonic and the next title, 'Dying Stars' is a ballad which melodic influences of 'Queen' emerges. So, it’s a patchwork of styles, moods and rhythms that 'Crystal Breed' offers us with this latest album that should appeal to any fan of progressive music in the broad sense of the term…
