'RanestRane' is an Italian band that exists for more than 10 years and has the particularity of setting to music the movies of famous directors, including 'Stanley Kubrick'. Their latest album 'Starchild' is the latest installment of 'A Space Odyssey' and they embarked on the adventure 'Steve Rothery' and 'Steve Hogarth' of 'Marillion'. We have to say that the group’s members have already a few hours of flight because they all collaborated with recognized artists of the international progressive scene (among others 'Riccardo Romano' invited all this beautiful world in his last album 'B612’ inspired by 'Antoine de Saint-Exupery's novel here). From the first title 'Insieme delle Cose', we are immersed in a progressive atmosphere with a beautiful melody as Italians know so well do and where everything fits very naturally between the sung parts and instrumental parts. Then follows the short 'Do You Read Me Hal' which takes up dialogue of the film and where we can not help but draw a parallel with the sounds of 'One Of These Days' of the 'Floyds'. The following continues in this progressive but nevertheless very accessible atmosphere with culminating point 'Sargate' of more than 15 minutes (the start of which reminds me of certain music of film of 'Eric Serra' composer) which takes us in a delicious maze where alternate quiet and more energetic parts always very melodic. In short, 'Starchild' closes very beautifully the last part of the trilogy of the ‘A Space Odyssey' and if you like a progressive which mixes Italian roots with 'Floydian' influences, this last album of 'RanestRane' is made for you...
