After the power of 'REXORIA' and 'Infinite & Divine', we stay in the melodic but in a more moderate style with the AOR of 'Khimera' which, after 'The Grand Design' in 2015 and 'Master of Illusions' in 2020, release a new album 'Hold Your Ground'. At 'Khymera', the albums follow one another and look alike but, this is in no way pejorative, because we are very happy to put between our ears these melodic hits which do good and 'Hold Your Ground' does not derogate to the rule and offers us 11 new compositions that we take great pleasure in listening to. Always led by the multi-instrumentalist and singer 'Dennis Ward' since the second album, we embark on a beautiful AOR journey and this, from the start, with the mid-tempo 'Don't Wait For Love' which unfolds a first melody effective then, the singles follow one another with an efficiency which seems quite natural and which brings us back to the best of the 80s when we put the last 'Toto' or 'Foreigner' between our ears. The ballad break is not forgotten with the magnificent 'Our Love Is Killing Me' then, it's off again for an uninterrupted series of hits and my favourites go to 'Hear What I'm Saying' (see video above), 'Believe In What You Want' and 'Could Have Been Us'. In short, 'Khymera' continues its journey by offering us a new album filled with unstoppable melodies and this 'Hold You Ground' will undoubtedly delight all those who were raised on the bottles of the precursors of the AOR in the 80 years... | |
