'Eleside' is a new symphonic metal band that was created in 2017 and released its first studio album 'Battles of Choices'. Originally from Italy, the transalpine combo offers 9 compositions whose duration varies between 3 and 4 minutes for a total of 35 minutes. First, with 'I Heard a Sweet Melody', the style is close to the Germans of 'Xiphea' (see their latest album here) with a melody that begins with a lullaby for child. With 'Looking in the Stars', even if the guitar riffs are always present, we move away from the metal and the composition makes us swing to the rhythm of a waltz 3 times. The following scrolls the very melodic 'Like a Feather in the Snow' and his unexpected break with a harpsichord in the middle of the title, 'Battle of Choices' reminiscent of the first albums of 'Coronatus' (see their latest album here), the epic 'The Reverse Portrait' with an introduction borrowing from the 'Radetzky March' of 'Johann Strauss' and the hopping 'Angels Vampire' enhanced by keyboards bringing an ominous side, the album ending with 'Truths and Misunderstandings' with its magnificent tonality changes that shows the singing talent of 'Corinne Di Marco' and the beautiful melodic mid-tempo 'Rebirth'. In summary, the Italians of Eleside' already shows with this first album a beautiful maturity and this 'Battle of Choices' should be well received by a public privileging the symphonic and melodic side to the power of metal... | |
