After the Italians of ‘Eleside' (see here), it's the turn of their compatriots' Kalidia' to release a new album 'The Frozen Throne' which is their second studio album. They fit between power metal and symphonic with obvious influences from major formations of these styles. 'Frozen Throne' opens the bal with an energetic rhythm, an aggressive bass and a melody that enters into your head immediately, then 'Circle's Spell' whose introduction takes us to the Orient, is a more classical symphonic metal. Then follow the 'Black Sails' coach who is strongly inspired by 'Storm The Sorrow' by ‘Epica', then with 'Orpheus', after a quiet introduction, we find a fairly classic power metal and, 'To the Darkness I Belong' is still a catchy and effective hymn. The second part of the album is the image of the beginning, and we can note the power ballad 'Midnight's Chant' which allows a welcome break. In summary, 'The Frozen Throne' is a good melodic and symphonic power metal album for fans of this style, and Italians, thanks to accessible melodic lines, have certainly the ability to evolve now to forge their own personality to get out of the mass of groups of this kind of music and to target a wider audience...
