I did not know the French 'Roland Gassin' who, for a dozen years, has released quite eclectic albums since they are all dedicated to a different style and we therefore navigate between jazz with 'Electrode' pop with 'Dépoussiérage de printemps' or progressive rock for the last one released in 2020 'Rock'N'Roll Skyline' (see on his web site, all of his production only distributed digitally ici
'Shine On' opens the ball with a melody reminiscent of the 60s/70s in a kind of fusion between the pop of the 'Beatles' and the beginning of the progressive, then, with 'Rocking with Ray Charles', we is full foot in hard-rock close to 'Led-Zeppelin' in terms of rhythm and 'Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young' in terms of melodic lines and vocal arrangements. Follows the enticing 'The Preacher' which recalls the atmosphere of
'You Really Got Me' of 'Van Halen' but much softer, then, with 'Better Days Ahead', we increase the decibels and we are transported into the world of classic hard-rock of the 60s/70s with all the major formations of that time which we remember fondly, and as for 'Vainglorious', it takes us into a quiet melodic mid-tempo with Hammond sounds in the background. What follows is like this first half of the album, shared between energetic compositions, bringing us back to classic hard-rock from the early 70s like 'I Can Feel It' or 'You! Old Bastard! ' and other titles bringing other styles of this period with 'Helter Skelter In My Mind' and its funk tones, the pop 'Ain't Got No Spare Parts' and a 'No More Lies' with its arpeggios of guitar close to the most beautiful ballads of 'Scorpions' and which has a catchy chorus with a heady melody, not to mention the beautiful semi-acoustic ballad 'You Will Remain Alive' in the melodic lines of 'U2'.

In summary, this latest album from 'Roland Gassin' takes us back a few decades with a wonderful patchwork of this period between rock, hard-rock and pop with melodic lines that integrate immediately, which destines 'Born in the Seventies' to an audience who loved the different musical streams of this period which allowed the emergence of a large number of rock legends and who saw subgenres develop like progressive rock , hard rock and metal...
