The Germans of 'Dawn of Destiny' are already around 15 years old and after 'To Hell' in 2015 and 'The Beast Inside' in 2019, here is their 8th studio recording, 'Destiny Of Silence'. I've always liked this group, which has evolved over time, so much so that we've given them a lot of labels related to metal: power, death, trash (perhaps excessive), gothic, dark and finally symphonic, which is not false in itself and which finally shows the variety of styles. Of course power metal is a kind of common thread because everything is done to offer us incisive and powerful guitar riffs throughout the album and for the rest, at first listen, we find this patchwork of styles described above and more or less integrated into the 13 compositions and the big hour of listening to 'Destiny Of Silence'.
And to start, the long development 'We Are Your Voice' contains quite a few different ingredients with a sought-after construction alternating different intensities but also with remarkable symphonic arrangements and a particularly rich vocal section thanks to the magnificent duet mixed 'Jeanette Scherff'/'Jens Faber' who offers us a very expressive first performance. Lovers of big riffs that make you headbang to your head, follows a huge 'Judas In Me' which overthrows everything in its path with a simple but so effective melody, then, 'Childhood' adds a layer with lines addictive melodies that come close to what the Germans of 'Mono Inc.'. In a hellish train, then tumbles 'Say My Name' which can recall certain compositions of 'Therion' thanks to rich vocal arrangements and melodic lines close to what 'Christofer Johnsson' composes, then, change of scenery with the tribal rhythm of 'White Mystery' which strikes us a powerful hymn with accelerations in which 'Jeanette Scherff' deploys an energetic song alternating with furious growls of 'Jens Faber'. With 'Not The Way Is', the catchy melodic lines continue in a catchy rhythm and the memorable chorus can recall the fire and enthusiasm of the symphonic metal of 'Visions Of Atlantis', then, place at the moment ballad with 'Little Flower' which offers a very classic melody but so effective which should see a whole audience swinging their arms slowly from left to right in concert with this additional tone at the end of the title bringing an additional emotion. Given the diversity of this first part of the album, the compositions passed very quickly and the second part continues on the same rhythm, with 'Burning Heart' which brings us back again to 'Mono Inc.' with its catchy melody and the deep voice of 'Jens Faber' which sounds like 'Martin Engler', then 'Silence' is a new ballad, just as addictive as the first, which is followed by 'Run' with its joyful chorus to be sung in concert and 'The Curse' continues in this direction with new catchy melodic lines, a string accompaniment that fits very well with the lively rhythm and a remarkable guitar solo. And the album ends on a high note with, first of all, a very pleasant dancing 'Inner Voice' and its catchphrase which is likely to run through your head all day and, then, the long and very original development which brings together a classic piano with saturated guitar riffs and which offers a construction containing several different parts bringing a slight dose of progressive.
In summary, the Germans of 'Dawn Of Destiny' release a very beautiful album, varied, dense and melodic which can be listened to with happiness from the first to the last composition without any weariness: whether you are an amateur or lover of power metal, symphonic metal, gothic metal or even melodic metal, you should, without a doubt, adhere fairly quickly to this 'Of Silence'... | |
