The Turks of 'Dream Ocean' with a promising debut album, 'Lost Love Symphony' in 2018, have released a new album in late September 2021. Led by vocalist 'Basak Ylva' and multi-instrumentalist 'Sebastian Heuckmann', they offer 11 compositions for a short hour of listening with a long development that exceeds 10 minutes in a rather classic symphonic metal taking us back to the beginning of this style in the late 90s.
After the short symphonic instrumental introduction 'Nightmare', which is appropriate in this style of music, 'Dark Miracles' introduces the metal part with a first catchy track and a first federative chorus that should work well in concert, then, 'Pendulum of Time' brings a pinch of progressive with a longer composition that alternates different atmospheres and is less direct than the others but also shows the talent of this band for more complex tracks. This is followed by effective compositions in a more classical symphonic metal first 'The Great Silence' (see video above), then 'Lucid Air' and its heady chorus and finally the melodic gem 'As I Die' (see video here) which takes us back to the rhythmic and melodic lines of 'Nightwish'. This is followed by 'Eterna Espera' (see video here) which calms the metal ardour with a beautiful, powerful, and epic power ballad, then, 'Daydreamer', covered in Turkish at the end of the album ('Uyan') and introduced by electronic sound effects picks up afterwards for another catchy track with memorable melodic lines. Another ballad break with the short 'Song To The Ocean' with a beautiful vocal performance by 'Basak Ylva' showing all her talent in this more acoustic atmosphere and, without transition, the album ends in beauty with the title track which continues the theme of the previous title and embarks us in a grand symphonic epic, with magnificent orchestral and vocal arrangements alternating different atmospheres, making it the flagship composition of the album and the most intense track. Also worth noting is that the Turks have released a video cover of 'The Phantom of the Opera' with the participation of 'Tommy Johansson' from 'Sabaton'.
In short, the Turks of 'Dream Ocean' confirm all the good we thought of them with their promising first album 'Lost Love Symphony' by offering us this magnificent 'The Missing Stone' which, thanks to the compositions of 'Sebastian Heuckmann' who has this talent to perfectly merge metal and classical and, thanks to the admirable vocal performances of the opera singer 'Basak Ylva', should make all symphonic metal lovers happy... | |
